Laigueglia Hotel, Laigueglia holidays. The ancient seaside town has Roman origins and it is one of the most appreciated and frequented resorts of the Riviera dei Fiori. In fact, its history dates back to the 12th century. It was dominated by the Republic of Genoa, Pandolfo of Alassio as well as Giacomo and Alberto of Albenga. It was then united to Andora and it once again became a Genovese possession. It became autonomous in the 16th century and in 1812 it was attacked by English ships. Near the old part of town there is a modern city that offers fantastic tourist services. The ancient center has the typical urban structure of many Ligurian towns that contain arches, vaults, and alleys that were created for defensive reasons. Very picturesque are the large squares of Laigueglia that face the sea that contrast the narrow alleys that create a beautiful architectonic element. Of great interest is the Parish Church of St. Matteo that was built in the second half of the 18th century and it represents a fantastic example of Baroque art. On the sea you can see the 1564 Embattled Tower that was built with other towers that were later destroyed. These towers were used to protect the inhabitants from Saracen raids. Very charming is the Colle Micheri promenade that offers magnificent paths that will take you to the Andora Castle.
