Altare?s Glass Museum, located inside the wonderful Liberty ?Villa Rosa? Manson-house, represents, still nowadays, that this small hinterland village has been known since the thirteenth century for its glass manufacturers who contended fame and popularity with craftsmen from Murano, all over Europe. Altare still keep a valuable Heritage which must be preserved, protected and proudly showed. Here, are exposed about 300 precious pieces (jars, decanters, chalices, holy water stoups, vessels, bottles, lamps?..); 1570 different interesting glass finds (spotter flyswatters ,bells...), about 800 old wooden and cast iron moulds and more than 400 tools for workmanship used from the end of the eighteenth to the nineteenth century .Nowadays the ancient traditions are still used in some workshop, and the Art Glass Institute spends for advertising and cultural research and it has been publishing also a magazine ?Alte Vitrie? since 1988.From Wednesday to Sunday 3-7 p.m.Adults ? 3,00; groups ? 2,50 (min.15 people / 1 person free of charge every 15); Children ? 2,00 (children aged 6-14 / people over 60 / school groups); Children under 6 y.o. are free of charge.?Villa Rosa? Manson-house at Altare: A6 Savona-Torino highway, Altare motorway gate; Cadibona main road.It is worthy to reach Piana Crixia to see a big mushroom-shaped monolith.
