Ormeasco of Pornassio

Pornassio

?Ormeoasco?, famous red wine from Pornassio, was imported by the Saracens in 1000, to the neighbouring Ormea areas, a village located in the Ligurian Alps, from which it might have taken the present denomination. In 1303, the Marquis from Clavesana, who ruled all over the area, ordered to inhabitants to plant only this kind of tendril. Ormeasco wine is extracted from the tendrils of Dolcetto, compared to the last one, it has a more intense scent, a brighter colour, though keeping a bitter tasting. Ormeasco wine was recognized as DOC wine in September 2003, the ? Pornassio ? or ?Ormeasco from Pornassio DOC ? is produced in several typologies: red one, ?sciac-trà?, red superior, ?passito?(raisin wine),? passito liquoroso?(liqueur wine). Standard version on Ormeasco is ruby red-coloured and full-bodied. The red Pornassio well combines with sea-food but also with the typical Ligurian cuisine, whereas the ?passito? combines with traditional cakes.Pornassio; A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia; Imperia est exit , keep direction to Pieve di Teco (30KM) .
